A Lesson on Hospitality from Celebrity Planner Lisa Vorce

comment 1

Escaping New York during dreary November days is always a blessing, but when you get to be a guest at Lisa Vorce’s loft, it’s in another league of comfort.  The creative team at Zola lugged our bags towards Lisa’s Santa Ana home, not knowing what to expect from the woman who’s first event was for George Clooney’s mother, Rosemary, and her most recent for Chrissy Tiegen and John Legend.   We were in for quite a hospitality tutorial from our November tastemaker.

Welcome Kit

First on the list? Lisa recommends providing your guests with a welcome kit, full of your favorite products. Display them at the foot of the bed and your guests are sure to feel pampered as soon as they walk in the door.

Guest-Friendly Food

As for the food, an easy yet elegant go-to for brunch is a variety of quiches.

I’m all about quiches since you can prepare them ahead of time. I prefer to get the work and the mess out of the way before my guests arrive. Typically I prepare a couple of quiches prior to my guests’ arrival and then just heat and serve for their breakfast.

Serving Made Simple

To serve them (or any other delicious treat) up, Lisa recommends sticking to neutrals and adding in wood or slate for a warm and welcoming vibe.

I often mix artisanal or handmade pieces with more contemporary pieces. For example, pairing the Vietri china with the Iittala Artik flatware is a beautiful combo. For the serve ware, I always make sure it provides a beautiful backdrop for the food – so again, neutral and clean. You can never go wrong with a combination of slate and wood. Understated yet elegant at the same time.”

Serve your guests champagne with blackberries and fresh pear to brighten the mood and make their stay festive.

What’s Most Important

The most important advice Lisa offered us? Welcome your guests with genuine happiness. There’s nothing better than a home full of warmth and affection.
