We’ve all heard the do’s and don’ts of wedding planning, attire, and even registering. But, not so many people are aware of the do’s and don’ts of wedding paper. We sat down with stationery brand Dempsey & Carroll to get the dish on all things wedding paper etiquette!
Wedding Paper Etiquette
DO personalize your wedding invites to coordinate with your wedding theme. If your colors are blue and silver, work it into the stationery design to give guests a sneak peak into your big day!
DON’T wait until the last minute to send out your invites & Save the Dates. We recommend sending out your Save the Dates 4 to 6 months to a year in advance, and wedding invites 2 to 3 months in advance.
DO consider having your stationer assemble and mail your invitations. It’s a surprisingly huge task, and you do not want to risk any invitations being returned.
DON’T feel like you have to be so formal when addressing envelopes. If your wedding is more casual, then ‘Grace & Zach Davis’ is perfectly acceptable.
DO consider skipping the check-offs on your reply card. The ‘reply by’ date on the card will work. This way, you’ll get more personal and interesting responses that’ll make for great keepsakes!
DON’T buy postage until you weigh the final package of invites. This will save you time and avoid wasting money.
DO have fun with whimsical and personal design elements on a custom envelope liner or throughout your wedding suite. Let it reflect your personality as a couple!
DON’T get bogged down with worrying about etiquette (which is ever evolving). Enjoy the process, and don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it!
