Yours & Mine: A Mid-Century Modern Living Room

One of the more difficult things new couples face when registering for their wedding is choosing home decor for a new home. Combining your style with your partner’s can be an intimidating task, but the key is to find a middle ground. Take a look at your individual aesthetics and aim to create a style of your own that represents a little of each of you. Mid-century modern is a gorgeous style that many couples can agree on. It combines silhouettes from the past with rustic textures and neutral hues, a great look for a warm yet stylish home. Think loads of worn in leather, sleek lines, and just a touch of prints. This style is also great for adding in your own personal pieces, like souvenirs from your honeymoon or old collectables from your past. The more personalized the better. So if you’re looking to turn your newlywed home into a casual retro pad, then these mid-century modern essentials are perfect for your new living room. Assemble Your Thanksgiving Buffet in 5 Easy Steps

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and while you’re prepping your food and welcoming guests, we’re here to help you setup your dinner. If you’re going for a casual, buffet style dinner, simply follow these easy steps to create the perfect Thanksgiving buffet. 1. Layer your linens Though an easy step to forget, lining your countertop or buffet table with linens is key to creating a complete look. Try starting with a tablecloth and adding placemats on top, where the serving trays will go, for a layered look that’s pleasing to the eye. Choose fall hues or stick with your personal taste. We’re big fans of this charcoal tablecloth with fun geometric detail. 2. Place your serving dishes Place the larger items on the table first, like your serving dishes. If your linens are bolder and more colorful, stick with simple serving platters in white and wood. The combination of these white platters with this wooden tray would create the perfect rustic vibe. 3. Organize your plates, forks, knives… Add a stack of plates to the beginning of the line …

Set Your Thanksgiving Table with Molly Sims

When I first met Molly Sims through a common friend, Zola tastemaker and Molly’s wedding planner, Stefanie Cove, I heard the southern drawl and more notably, felt the warmth immediately.  She dished tips on how to deal with a Napa wedding as I was a month away from my big weekend, near to where she married Scott Stuber two years ago.  Now, she’s mom to one, expecting another,  still looks like a supermodel, and is the lifestyle guru behind MollySims.com – someone you want to be best mom friends with. We chatted about the Zola modern couple and what it means to design a home together these days.  Molly loved the Zola concept, and we loved her humble and lovely spirit.  When Molly suggested designing a table with Zola picks fit for her family, we jumped at the chance to make it happen. Her collection, launching today, in time for Thanksgiving, is nothing short of expectation. On shoot day in LA, she pulled up to the Lombardi House in her hybrid, bare faced and maxi-clad with suede booties. She immediately …

Beginner’s Guide To: Luggage

As you’re packing up and heading out of town for the holidays, we figured luggage must be on your mind. Well, maybe that Thanksgiving meal is top priority, but sure, luggage too. So, what better time for a little lesson on luggage? We highly recommend registering for this travel essential, but some questions come to mind. How many bags should you register for? What material is best for you? What about all those different sizes? Let’s break it down, shall we? Hard vs. Soft We recommend using hard luggage for protecting fragile items. Hardside suitcases tend to have soft interiors like foam, perfect for keeping your things safe. As for soft material suitcases, they’re great for fitting in tight spaces since they mold to the space they’re in. They also can expand so if you’re planning to shop on your trip, you can shove those extra pieces in without a problem. Luckily, both tend to be pretty lightweight these days so you don’t have to worry about weight being an issue. Choosing a size Consider your travel style when choosing …
