The dropping temperatures have us more inclined to stay in and host than rally troops to head to the park for a picnic. Entertaining is one of those things that should feel easy, but cut to 7pm on a Friday, and we’re scrambling. Having go-to platters on hand helps to cut the chaos. Cut up veggies, arrange a cheese plate, and heat up a flatbread, and you’ll be good to go, even on a Friday after a long week.
When we registered, the selection for entertaining goodies felt especially intimidating. So, if we were to narrow it down for you to just a handful of items that make us feel like we got a true hosting style upgrade, we’d pick the classic white platter, the wood palette, and the slate cheese board.
The Brooklyn Slate Cheese Board doubles as a tray for warm, colorful bruschetta or pizzas. It’s tough against guests cutting into it, and the dark, textured background makes the food’s lighter look gorgeous.
We’re partial to the folks at Vermont Farm Table because of their ability to combine rustic and elegant styles. It’s easy with their French paddles to take an ordinary cheese plate to a different level.

Finally, the classic Billy Cotton White Nesting Platter makes foods look impeccably elegant and doubles for apps or main dishes. It’s clean oval shape is easy to store as well. Image Credit: Once Wed
